One of the best Christmas books,
This review is from: Popbitch: Celebrity Excess And Other Monkey Business (Hardcover)
When you think of a "Christmas book" you think of some flimsy tie-in, clearly written by committee and shoved together in a coffee break, readable from cover to cover in the same amount of time. In the case of this book, please forget that particular image as it definitely doesn't apply here.
As soon as you open the cover you realise that this book has been something of a labour of love. If, like me, you're a fan of the Popbitch website and newsletter you'll see some familiar stuff, but also a lot of new material, and the whole thing has been assembled into chronological order, running through the years from when Popbitch was born. Inside you'll find blind items ("which 80's pop star...?"), a couple of comic strips, and even instructions on how to knit your own otter. After opening this on Christmas Day I read it from cover to cover and it took a good few days to devour it. This is one of the most entertaining Christmas tie-in books I have read, and I highly recommend it.
One thing: don't look at the title, see the word "pop", and give it to the kids. Bad idea...
