Cried all the way through,

This review is from: The Lovely Bones (Paperback)
I didn't really know what to expect when I started the lovely bones, I had vaguely heard of it, but didn't even read the back of the book before I bought it so really had no idea. Consequently the first chapter sickened me to the core, so much so that I had to put it down and start again the next day. From there, what others have termed sentimental, I found a very moving and evocative illustration of a father's grief and futile guilt that moved me to tears throughout the book. I also loved the characters of Susie and Lyndsey, that lightened the subject and kept a certain cheeriness despite events. As other reviewers have mentioned - rather a shame about the final Dan/Susie scene, rather ruined what I thought was a moving and human novel.
