This review is from: Cycles, Tents and Two Young Gents (Kindle Edition)
Oddly enough, despite this being light on much real detail or story I found it highly amusing. Not laugh out loud, but it kept me interested. Basically, two young men decide to cycle to Ibiza from their home in England.
I think it might be the different agenda of the two travellers. Ste (the writer) considers the trip an 'adventure'. His friend J just sees it as a holiday. There's some brutally honest assessment of their respective abilities, motivations and goals and plenty of childish mucking about. The writer seems to recognise its puerile and gives the impression he disapproves and yet somehow enjoys it.
I enjoyed it, but probably only because it reminds me so much of similar trips I took when I was a similar age. If you're looking for a 'proper' travel book this won't be for you.
