Great result - but the instructions aren't clear enough,
This review is from: Oven Brite - 500ML - Bottle Bag & Gloves Included - Complete Oven Cleaner
Having seen my sister's results with this product, I used it on my oven which, I'm ashamed to say, was covered in splashes and it was hard to see any stainless steel of the shelves (the bottom of the oven is always clean as I use a Lakeland oven protector sheet on it which is easy to remove, wash and replace).
Anyway, while the instructions for Oven Brite say to put the liquid in the bag, add the racks and stand it up for 4 hours or overnight, that's clearly nonsense. As others here have experienced, when the do that - surprise! - it only cleans the metal the liquid has been in contact with. My sister had told me that she had put the racks in after the liquid, then squished it all around (be careful not to puncture the bag on any sharper rack bits) and laid it down, turning it over every hour or two. I did the same, making sure the liquid was equally distributed over the racks (two oven shelves and two side racks). I laid it on thick newspaper which was on my kitchen table, but the resealable bag didn't leak at all. The liquid doesn't smell either, which is great. Incidentally, I used maybe two thirds of the liquid in the bag rather than half as I didn't need so much to clean the oven itself.
I smoothed the rest of the liquid in the oven itself on surfaces which needed cleaning, including the glass door and left it for four hours or so. Note - it's meant to be used on a cold oven, not warm as some other products require.
The oven itself came up clean. After about six hours in the bag, I removed the side racks which were very easy to wash clean in soapy water (use the gloves when you take the racks out of the bag). In the morning, I then removed the shelves one by one. They were mostly clean, although one or two little knobs of stuck on dripped stuff remained, which I persuaded off with a bit of wire wool and elbow grease.
All in all, I'm very happy with how this product worked - it's not a miracle worker. If you've baked on globules of dripped food, it'll do it's best but you'll have to put in a little effort too. For the rest of it, it comes out sparkling. Will definitely ues it again (though I am determined to give the oven shelves a wipe down after using it each time to avoid the build up...we'll see!).
