Not my kind of thing,

This review is from: The Golden Step: A Walk Through the Heart of Crete (Armchair Traveller) (Kindle Edition)
Bought by accident whilst browsing my kindle for a good travel book. Thought I might as well read it, as I had just lost five quid and was feeling depressed because of it. There, that story, gratis, was more fun than anything in the book. To be fair, I expect this book would appeal to a reader of the Daily Express or The Mail on Sunday more than to myself. The writer packs a book of psalms for inspiration on his journey, and carries a harmonica in order to start conversations with people. I mean, who does that? The jokes are dismal, because the author doesn't seem to have any well of real unhappiness to draw on. His sense of humour belongs on the antiques roadshow, the audience of which is, I suspect, the real target readership of this memoir. Buy boxes of this book, the author is probably a nice dad.
