Scapegoat – Zut Alors!,
This review is from: The Scapegoat (Doctor Who: The New Eighth Doctor Adventures) (Doctor Who: The Eighth Doctor Adventures) (Audio CD)
First released in 2009, this is the fifth episode of the third season of standalone releases for Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor outside of the monthly range of Big Finish releases. This is a one disc release, with two 25 minute episodes. There are some interviews with cast and crew at the end of the disc.
This is a startlingly original tale from BF in the new Eighth Doctor range. Landing in Pairs and expecting the see the sights of the Montmarte and Moulin Rouge, the Doctor and Lucie find that they are in the middle of the Nazi occupation by mistake. But the Nazi’s aren’t all that there is to worry about, there is also a very disturbing Grande Guignol theatre where not all of the blood in fake.
It’s witty, dark, pacey and thrilling. Lucie and the Doctor are at their best here, enjoying the adventure and facing it with characteristic humour and courage. McGann and Smith are simply brilliant. This is a great deal of fun tempered by some very dark and disturbing undertones. 5 stars for an almost perfect adventure.
