Loved it (from a frightened 40-something),
This review is from: Feel Fab at 50 (Paperback)
Can we get one thing straight first. Please? I'm not 50. And I'm still a few years off being 50. So what attracted me to the book?
Simple: 50 is just such a terrifying place to be! I craved this book in the same trembling way that I swatted up on how to have a perfect wedding, how to have a painless childbirth, how to bring up a teenager, how to hitchhike through a war-torn country. ..... all of them, just as terrifying as the land of 50.
So, armed with visions of my menopausal and varicose veined future. The time when I would lose any remaining fashion sense, and become "middle aged". Shivering with these nightmarish visions I ploughed into Sue Donnelly's book, Feel Fab at 50.
Almost instantly, though, I felt the relief flood over me. My tooth-grinding (yes they are still real!) stress disappeared and was replaced by a warm sigh. This book is like a new friend. One that is realistic and grounded. It's full of practical and even enjoyable ways to greet 50, and look and feel fantastic!.
Sue's down to earth, common sense advice, full of "been there, done that", should be on prescription. She covers topics from image, clothes and how to dress, to nutrition and the emotional roller-coaster of cosmetic surgery. Her advice is upbeat and positive. She has transformed my fear of 50. Now, although I'm still not exactly looking forward to it, I'm certainly well prepared and confident that armed with her book, it won't be a disaster, it'll just be another birthday. And if I follow her advice I might look better at my 50th birthday party than I did at my 40th!!!
