This review is from: A Bright Particular Star (Kindle Edition)I loved this story. I think it's my favourite of Ms. Hanbury's so far.
It begins, quite literally, at a gallop and the pace scarcely lessens from then on. The characters are well-rounded: plucky feisty Sophie, puppy-like Theo and gentle but never boring Olivia. Most of all, I was intrigued by Lucius Grey. Without giving too much away, I was very happy he turned out to be who I wanted him to be!
There was lots of detail about Regency life, road networks and the inns along the way - and even some canal building thrown in for good measure. Having lived in north London I was amused at the section of the story taking place in the 'village' of Islington Green, as it would have been then.
A humorous, sweet story, with yearning passions and great detail - and some wonderful Regency slang. Dash it all, I heartily recommend this novel and I'm not fudging!
