This review is from: Borderlands 2 (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Got this on Steam on Friday early evening and played a good couple of hours on it and it reminds me of the good'old times I had from the original Borderlands. The gameplay has not changed and is still currently just as awesome as the original. The graphics are improved, there does seem to be a better story line to follow in this version then the original.
Again, you follow the little Wall-E lookalike as a tutorial and it gets going from there, pretty much thrown in to get on with it. The game is fun, frantic and fantastic. One of the best games of 2012 for me. The fact I've already played about 6 hours of it and still think I'm only a couple of percent through the game is fantastic value for money. COD I would be pretty much finished on single player. The voices, and play overs are just comical and brilliant, seeming to flow and be easy to play.
I played multi-player on the original Borderlands and was amazed how the game adapts to how many players are currently playing. was impressive. I would presume that it is very similar, but cannot comment as of yet.
I do have 2 minor gripes:
1 - The difficulty of "Boss's" is a bit extreme, whether this is the class (I'm the SPY, helmet guy) I'm playing or if I'm just not that good but I'm having to avoid these until I'm like 2/3 levels above the boss level (Eg, Quest Level is an 8, the boss is level 10, and I am having to be 12/13 to combat them). But again, rather than give up and rant the game is too hard and cry, it pushes me to actually explore and get better and try again, but is still extremely frustrating that I'm struggling with it, and the rewards are poor because I've already passed the grade and have better.
2 - I picked the SPY (The helmet guy) because I thought it could wield swords (as in the TV advert, he goes stealth and then launches a sword through the mouth of a bullymong thing) - I have yet to see swords in the game, or whether this is just for the advert, or if this is a skill I have to unlock (I have unlocked the first main skill, but that is just an hologram)
I would recommend this game to everyone, if you've played the first game, then prepare to be equally amazed, if you haven't, then this is one of the best games of the year (for me) so get cracking :D

The sword is in the game as a Melee attack, I think it is keybound to F. I changed it to one of my extra mouse buttons because its easier for me. You can also upgrade one of the skill trees to unlock special moves with it.

I just use the gun when i melee, i have yet to see a sword attack. Its not a game breaker for me, just thought it would be awesome to be melee'in :)
