On paper these are my ideal running shoes - wide toebox, 8mm padding in the sole, and 0mm drop (that is the heel and the midfoot are exactly the same height). And they... kind of deliver.
The upper is incredibly comfortable easily the best I have had on a shoe. The toebox is spot on. There is a slight problem in getting the shoes tight enough - either they feel too loose (and running down hills they slip a little), or the laces have to be tightened up way more than is completely comfortable.
The sole is surprising, despite only 8mm padding they feel like they have much more cushioning - very comfortable. It also isn't quite as flexible as you might expect from a minimalist shoe - a little more like a racing flat than a 'barefoot' shoe. Despite the 0mm drop, there is a slight increase in height under the arch - not the most intrusive arch support, but I'd prefer it wasn't there. Although noticeable, I haven't had any discomfort so far - but your mileage may vary.
You'll note I haven't mentioned the look of the shoes - um... purple and orange. Yeah.
In conclusion, these are one of the best shoes I've tried (running just behind the excellent New Balance MR00 - but that may change once I have more miles on them). With a few minor tweaks - the sole being flattened out under the arch, some improvements to the lacing, and some more 'traditional' colour schemes - these would be totally perfect.
