Oh, Pete, you disappoint me,
This review is from: Essential Millennium (Audio CD)
This would be five stars if it weren't for Pete Tong's piece ... Basically, Tong went for the most commercial songs out there (and used very few, maybe only two, original mixes). The mixing is super-basic, he basically plays the records (great as a confidence builder for aspiring DJs). Plus, I just don't like house, so this made my teeth itch.
FBS' mix was the best IMO. A varied sound with great mixing. I love the mix from "Carnival" to "Jack it Up" and into Chems' "Private Psychedelic". makes me melt.
this is also the first Oakie I've ever heard, and I like it. Makes me want to try more. Only track I couldn't stand was the Bullet in the Gun track. Ack!
Overall, it's good, but you can pretty much throw Tong's mix away.
