3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 14 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Thermos Thermocafe Hammertone Stainless Steel Flask - 500 ml (Kitchen & Home)
Keeps liquid hot for a few hours (2-3). Tried various fixes such as hot water to heat up the thermos before filling it with another hot serving of coffee or tea. The vacuum seal does not seal properly. Faulty design. Bad production. Also noticed my thermos has a bump in the bottom of the thermos. I believe this would facilitate more heat transfer, which is not what I want when I'm trying to keep the heat in. Overall disappointed.

I think you giving 3 stars is generous considering the problems you stated. I have used the larger 1 litre version for about 6 months and it does an excellent job with a litre of tap water, put in the freezer for around 3 hours in a plastic jug and transferred to the thermos which it keeps very noticeably cooler than 'fresh out the tap' water nearly the same time it was put in, the next day ie. around 20-24 hours later which is what the product states is its limit which is better than most other flasks that only give half that for cold liquids. I haven't used the 1 litre for hot water many times so cannot say whether it can deliver the '12 hours' stated HOWEVER the 0.5 litre/500ml version that I have just purchased (as I was so impressed with the litre version) to mostly use for hot water transfers a LOT of heat if completely full of boiling water to the outside of the pouring lid and worse, the outer cup a little too and only keeps noticeably nice and boiling for around 4-5 hours I think and I wouldn't like to drink from it after around 8/9 hours as its not as hot, that also depends on what drink I'm using too. I haven't tried the smaller thermos with ice cold water yet, as I have with the larger flask but will reply back with my finding.
