Pacifists with guns,
This review is from: Dear Wendy [DVD] (DVD)
The plot of 'Dear Wendy' revolves around Dick Dandelion, a loner living in a small American mining town in which everyone's life and livelihood seems to be totally centred around the local mine. Looking for a gift for someone he doesn't really like he buys a toy gun, which he soon discovers isn't a toy at all, it's real and Dick decides to keep it for himself.
Dick then falls in love with his gun, names it 'Wendy', and forms a gang named 'The Dandies', which is comprised of other gun lovers, all of which are pacifists who love to study and appreciate guns, though are not interested in their use as actual weapons and are honour bound as gang members never to use their guns to commit violent acts against others. As the story progresses 'The Dandies' soon realise that some of the rules of the group have to be broken.
Written by Lars Von Trier, 'Dear Wendy' is a film presented in a very unique and quirky way. The young cast is great and not typical of the usual teenage casting of good looks and white teeth, and Jamie Bell is proving to be an exceptional young actor. If you like quirky films then this is definitely worth a look.
