2.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing, 22 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Lenovo C540 23-inch touchscreen All in One Desktop (Black) - (Intel Pentium 3GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, DVDRW, Integrated Graphics, Windows 8) (Personal Computers)
I bought this for my 15yr old son and the initial excitement was soon replaced with complete frustration. It took an eternity to start up from scratch, most likely due to the intel Pentium processor and all the junk software that is loaded onto it, windows 8 is a nightmare, my poor son tried his best to navigate his way around the OS and within half an hour had asked me to take it away and build him a pc from scratch with windows 7. The actual unit is ok, the touchscreen works quite well , the mouse and keyboard feels cheap and plasticy ( not sure if that is a word but it is now lol ). Trying to update windows 8 to 8.1 required various updates which once downloaded seemed to take an age to install, followed by a lengthy reboot and then once we had got onto the MS free update page the update didn't want to do anything. Overall, one big frustration. I have returned the pc and have ordered the parts to build a decent rig for my lad.

Certainly rather disappointing, making me reconsider my choice.

Hi Dorothy, sorry if my review has put you off of buying this. I have had many years of experience with using pc's and have built a fair few gaming pc's for friends and family. My ex-wife suggested this all in one unit and as it had good reviews I decided to give it a whirl. The two biggest bug bears for me were the operating system, Windows 8 , in my opinion is not user intuitive in the slightest, although I guess you would get used to it after time and a lot of patience - the other issue is the performance, this machine is so slow, I can only put it down to the processor being a Pentium, I thought they went out years ago. There is another version of this all-in-one available that has the intel processor but it is a few hundred pounds more expensive. I would suggest try this one and if it isn't any good for you return it. I hope this helps and thanks for the comment. All the best.
