Compact, easy to use and stunning maps!,
This review is from: Discovering Scotland (Atlas & Guide) (Paperback)
This is one of the best atlases of Scotland I have and I have quite a lot! Being only 24.5 x 12.5cm large it is perfect for in the car's glovebox or in a coat pocket - you can practically stow it anywhere without it being in the way! The inside front cover has a photograph of Gairloch Pier. It starts off with a route planning map which shows the whole of Scotland with sectioned areas referring to their page number in the book. Then follows a section on national tourist routes, information on all areas of Scotland with town maps, key places to visit and lovely photographs. Then there is a section on battlefields, Munros and golf courses. The main section of the book is obviously the maps - they are stunning - beautifully coloured and easy to read. At the back of the book it has lists of places to visit which give a number, website and a general short overview of the attraction. After this section it has information on ferry operators and routes, airport information and a distance chart. The inside back cover has a stunning photograph of Loch a'Chairn Bhain a sea inlet which is about 35 miles north of Ullapool (you'll find it on page 126 ;) )
If you are thinking of visiting Scotland and want a handy guide I highly recommend this one. Or even if you already live in Scotland and love to travel or simply love looking at maps then this is the one for you!!!
