3 Peaks Tested = PASS,
This review is from: Hi-Tec Altitude VI Waterproof, Men's Hiking Boots (Apparel)
Ok. So I sign up to do the OXFAM Trailtrekker challenge 2012. I have no kit... not a stitch. So I start looking for some boots in Jan 2012 to give me time to train and break them in. I didn't want to spend a fortune just yet, in the event that I do the challenge and then stop hiking/rambling/walking. So I opted on these Hi-Tech Altitude boots after reading some of the reviews on here. My last experience of Hi-Tech was not so good, as a teenager they were the bottom end of the training shoe market with Gola and Dunlop (the latter two seem to be chic these days!!), and as such they fell to bits quite quickly. So I was expecting a few months of walking and then leaks etc.
Up until April they were used every weekend for a 10-20 mile walk in training around the wolds and they held up brilliantly. But, there are no seriously nasty bits in the Wolds. Nothing really to punish them. Until now. As part of my training, myself and some friends did the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge. The weather was atrocious, the terrain both hazardous (rocky and boggy), and treacherous (slippy due to conditions) and they were FANTASTIC. They carried me 24 miles without a blister, with no pain in the arches of my feet. And NO leaking, even in knee deep bogs. They gripped well, and I had no slips resulting in falls. I cannot recomend these Hi-Techs enough. Why pay over the odds for boots when Hi-Tech seem to have got this model so right? Brashers at half the price!
