A poor sequel,
This review is from: Dragon Age 2 - Signature Edition (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Make no bones about it - this is a sorry excuse for a sequel. DAO was an epic - this feels like rushed DLC and totally watered down. Game mechanics and design that worked so well in the original have been abandoned without reason. The game plays like groundhog day - including the serially re-used locations for which you are supposed to suspend your disbelief and pretend you are somewhere new each time. The combat is shocking - why do 3 waves of enemies materialise out of mid-air time after time? This game was rushed, poorly thought out and lacks all sense of scale and character. The companions this time are limited and unengaging contrasting sharply with DAO where there were so many characters to grow attached to and like - e.g. Shale or Morrigan.
Was this game dumbed down for a quick release and console audience? It feels like it.
To the creators I add this thought - I will pay top money for a immersive game that I can invest 100's of hours into and still find something new to do - true adventuring. Try raising the bar again not lowering it.
