Very useful background reading,
This review is from: Psychology of Addictive Behaviour (Palgrave Insights in Psychology series) (Paperback)
This book would be useful for students of psychology, psychotherapy or counselling. It provides you with up to date research into the physiology,as well as the psychology, of addiction. Students will like it because the references will give them other avenues to explore, health professionals will find it a useful primer. From the treatment perspective, it gives useful background information on many aspects of addictive behaviour and treatment, as well as common themes that someone suffering from addiction might raise. Like other books in this Palgrave series, it is well-presented, the material is easily accessible, yet it doesn't skimp on detail. All in all, it packs a lot in for a book its size (150 pages, 14 x 22cm).
