4.0 out of 5 stars Very useful little gadget, 24 Jun. 2007

This review is from: Egg Perfect Colour Changing Egg Timer (Kitchen & Home)
I had one of these years ago and must say it did exactly what it says on the box. Timed my eggs perfectly, whether I started them in hot or cold water. Going to buy another one.

Be warned that since there is no bell sound or beep at the end that you should not leave it unattended or forget about it and allow the water to boil away otherwise this little sucker will melt. I did, and it did, hence the need for a new one.

Hmmm - I'm having to replace the saucepan too. Luckily I returned home before the house burned down!

8 and a half year update... how's that for diligence and long term view?

The egg finally cracked. After surely several hundred immersions in boiling water for a few minutes at a time, the occassional plunging afterwards into cold water which was surely not a good idea, the egg started to split and began to change colour more quickly on one side than the other. It did its job well without complaint or fault for this length of time but it still went in the bin and was replaced by a new one immediately.

The egg is dead, long live the egg.
