This review is from: CLARKE METALWORK FIXED BENCH VICE 6" 150mm BLUE (Misc.)
Ok, so the actual vice doesn't look exactly like the one in the stock photo but then it's not unusual for online products to not exactly match their illustrations and hey ... who cares ? ... it's not like I'm gonna go parading it up and down the beach ... it's a VICE lol.
Now - apart from the slightly lumpy hammered finish type paintwork which doesn't matter in the slightest, the metalwork is well finished with no obvious burrs or bad fettling.
The machined steel jaws come together very nicely and again, no need to reach for the files to remove any sharp bits. There is the obligatory super-thick grease on all of the exposed metal areas to protect from rust which will come off quickly and easily with a few of squirts of WD40 and some old rag.
My digital fishing scale says it weighs 16.5kg which is pretty close to the 17kg that it says on the box that it came in. It's a little short of the 20kg in the item description but that's probably just rounded up so you don't get any surprises in the hernia department lol.
150mm (6") wide jaws - yes ... 80mm (3.14") jaw depth - near enough at 76.2mm (3") ... 180mm (7") jaw opening - not quite ... opens to 165mm (6 1/2") at 41 turns of the tommy bar from fully closed. *NOTE* Another turn or two out on the tommy bar and the whole movable front jaw assembly could drop out and remove a knee-cap, a shin worth of skin and several toes if you aren't aware that there's no stop on the leadscrew.
Delivery on this item was truly turbo-charged and only took approx 48 hours from placing the order. It's not supposed to be here for at least another 2 days going by the estimated delivery date so a big thumbs up to you there Westcountry Hardware ;)
So ... overall, I'm very pleased with it. It's a nice hefty bit of kit which hopefully won't snap clean in half like my previous 75mm (3") unbranded vice did when I tried to use a BMX freewheel sprocket removal tool to remove a BMX freewheel sprocket. Just gotta hope my bench doesn't snap in half now :D
Hope this helps someone, ttfn.

Dr David E Johnson says:
Was going to purchase as its spec says 160mm jaw opening - 165 not quite enough
