Heart Warming Historical Gem,
This review is from: Patterns for Guernseys, Jerseys & Arans (Dover Knitting, Crochet, Tatting, Lace) (Paperback)
i LOVE this book. it is such a rich reference for design. i don't know if it has complete patterns for jumpers (some say no i think?) but it has recorded the specific stitching repeats and patterns from many areas and families. if gladys did't write this book, many of the patterns would be lost into history.
i like a book that, rather than spells out an exact formula, gives me the tools to make my own.
and the stories make my little heart beat faster. so sad that the times are changed irrevocably. but so glad that there were those who bothered to find out and write down the stories before they vanished.
it is a rich knitting resource and a must for anyone who wants to know the history and make their own designs.
just buy it, it's cheap! if i see it on your shelf, i'll know you're a real kniiting lover!
