...fantastic, atmospheric prog metallish...,
This review is from: Metafiction (Audio CD)
You know, sometimes you'll be sitting there just wishing that an album of Polish, atmospheric prog will pop through the letterbox. So, imaging my delight, when what should arrive but the second album from, yes, Polish, atmospheric progsters Votum! Of course, I'm now devoting all my mystic powers wishing for a huge lottery win, but that's proving harder.
Votum's debut, "Time Must Have A Stop", came out a couple of years back, and this continues in similar fashion. And a very good fashion it is too. Everyone and their mother will be flagging up names like Anathema and Porcupine Tree, but for once it's an appropriate comparison to make. However, they do have a penchant for ramping up the metallic guitars, something that is right up my street.
Fans of the aforementioned bands will find ample reason to love songs like 'Falling Dream' and 'Home', and I'll warrant there are a fair few latter day Marillion fans, missing their guitars, who'd really like this as well. Me? I loved it and recommend it wholeheartedly
