An American opinion !,
This review is from: Guide To The Architecture Of London (Paperback)
As an American, I regularly visit London... I relish its historic architectural development from Roman times, right up to its take on today's expression of a bustling commercial and cultural capitol city. Of course I have my own favorite places - always a delight for a foreign visitor and I continue to make new discoveries - thanks to this excellent guide book. London is really a collection of 'villages' which the passing centuries have melted together!
Naturally both Edward Jones and Christopher Woodward are architects and we the readers benefit from their well-informed and enthusiastic point-of-view. The cover of this latest edition invites a visit to the restaurant of the National Portrait Gallery to see the spectacular view of London's roof-scape, a 'must'!
! definitely recommend GUIDE TO THE ARCHITECTURE OF LONDON to those visiting London for the first time....and of course to Londoners themselves!
