Excellent film! OK the subject material is grim, but this is a portrayal of real events in Warsaw. I have visited the many of the sites associated with the '43 ghetto uprising and the '44 AK (Home Army) uprising, as well as the graves of some of those involved. This film focusses on the ghetto uprising and brings together the stories of some of the people I had learned about separately - Marek Edelman (who also fought in the '44 uprising) and Janusz Korczak, for instance.
For anyone interested in the Holocaust this film must rank alongside The Pianist, Schindler's List and (if you can get it) The Courageous Heart of Irene Sendler - available as Dzieci Ireny Sendlerowej in Polish with English subtitles.
