4.0 out of 5 stars Great game, but lots of annoying errors., 2 Aug. 2009
This review is from: IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Undoubtedly the best flight (near)sim you can get on a console but has a few bugs to be sorted and a lot of historical errors that shouldn't be in a game of this caliber. The Russian developers should have taken note of pre-release comments from avid UK fans who had been playing the demo to death as cleary they do not know their Battle of Britain history, RAF ranking system or aircraft types (MkIIb Spits with canon/late camo markings and MKXII Hurricanes??) in use during summer 1940. Hope some free DLC is on the way to sort this soon. That said it is very impressive and huge fun to play on Arcade or Realistic. Sim mode isn't really a true sim as that is probably not really possible without full keyboard mapping - but if you want all that then stick to a PC.

The Mk.IIb Spitfire was armed with 20mm canon as well as .303s. Sad I know that, but there you are.

Yeah but my point is there were no MKIIbs in service with the RAF during the Battle of Britain - a few MkIbs with 19 Sqn during July/Aug yes, and again with 92 Sqn in November but that's after the BoB (10/07-31/10/40).

Confident I can out-sad just about anybody on this subject any day of the week!
