Very sturdy, hefty tool, basic construction but looks built to last and comfortable to use. Safety catch for storage. Bargain price.
I bought these to cut spiral steel boning and they do this with little to no effort on my part - a quick snip on the outer coil or cut all the way across and the boning breaks with no problem. I cut and capped 10 pieces of boning in no time at all with these and the Draper DIY Series 12534 5-Piece Carbon Steel Mini Pliers Set with PVC-Dipped Handles.
Definitely a must have tool for anyone making corsets or steel boned costume/bridal wear.
UPDATE: So these weren't built to last after all. I loaned them to someone to cut bones for me and they stopped cutting. The bolts had all worked loose. We tightened the bolts and they worked for a few more snips but the same thing has happened again. I've probably cut around 200 steel bone with these, which isn't bad for the price but I would expect them to last longer than a few months of light use and can't afford to have my tools break in the middle of a project. Luckily I bought a different brand at the same time. I've just ordered this Toolzone Right Handed Offset Aviation Tinsnips Softgrip Handles to replace these ones as I did find myself having to try and angle the snips and the comfort handles would be nice when cutting multiple bones for multiple corsets! I've amended the star rating here to reflect the product breaking. (The little dinky pliers are still doing great though!)
