Would be a great game... if you could play it offline.,
This review is from: The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom (PC/Mac DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Firstly, you HAVE to have a constant internet connection to play this game, which isn't a problem for me. However, what is annoying is that after the initial game installation, then patch upgrade, uninstall, reinstall and another three hours of further patch upgrades, your gameplay relies on Ubisoft's server being operational.
I installed the game last night, started playing it properly this morning then it crashed. Nine hours later and I'm still getting a message that there's a fault with Ubisoft so I cannot play the game.
On the plus side, for the hour I managed to play it, it did look lovely and I even found a free settlement (thought these were non-existent now, I hope there are more).
Very disappointed with the set up - why you can't play the game offline once you've installed it defies logic. Oh well.
