especially not in Spanish if it is not your first or even second language!
worth persevering though but not a patch for me on "Dime quien soy".
I know it has ben showered with litterary prizes the world over but it did not do it for me.
i was especially disappointed with the Cuban part as it might as well have been happening anywhere in the world: no feel for that country or its people came through the writing.
Lots of anguish and repetition, it feels more like an exercise in style than a novel you are always aware of the author writing process which is not why I read a novel ( when i want this I read an essay)
the premise of the story is good and you are intrigued as to why a beautiful young woman would kill herself in such a manner.
There is also a good psychological study of the male psychee regarding father figure/ desire/guilt/women/sisters....
but it does not make for a novel for me rather a study in...
Again it might have to do with my grasp of the Spanish language at that level....?
