A Solid Performer,
This review is from: Canon PowerShot G16 Camera - Black (12.1MP, 28mm Lens, 5x Zoom Lens. 10x ZoomPlus) 3 inch LCD (Electronics)
Users of Canon DSLRs will feel right at home here, settings and menus are laid out far more logically compared to the competition. Good quality images, great low light performance and the 60fps video is silky smooth. AF can be slow in low light but is helped by a powerful AF assist light, I haven't used the G15 so I can't comment if it's an improvement or not. A good alternative to the Sony RX100 II which is smaller and has better low light performance, however this is cheaper and the f/1.8 - f/2.8 lens on this beats the Sony's f/1.8 - f4.9.
I have taken a star off for a couple of things; lack of touchscreen, selecting AF points would be so much easier with this, and they have incorporated this feature into other compacts. Lack of flip out screen, this doesn't bother me as much as some people but it would have been nice if a flip out screen could have been included without adding too much bulk.
Overall a very good buy if you have a DSLR but want something more pocketable, little features like a built in ND filter (3 stops) and a star trail mode are neat little additions, as is Wi-Fi (however you can only view and download images, not shoot pictures like you can with EOS DSLRs with this feature).
