A Bit Too Gothic But Still a Good Read,

The second in a trilogy of stories all related to the same group of people involved in a shipwreck and, for me, the least believable. The first in the series, 'Ravished by the Rake' introduces the characters in India and follows the first pair after the shipwreck. This one begins with shy, gentle Averil Heydon waking up completely naked on a sandy beach and in immediate danger of sexual attack by a group of rough men. Our hero, their leader and a man in disguise, rescues her and their entanglement begins.
This was my least favourite of the three stories, because the plot is rather too gothic for me and the villains too marked. Still, I enjoyed it enough to give it four stars even if it is not a keeper. Just accept this as a typical Regency romance of the hot and steamy sort, rather than the historically accurate.
The final book in the trilogy is 'Married to a Stranger'.
