1.0 out of 5 stars A sign of the times, 28 Oct. 2007
By
This review is from: Radio 1's Live Lounge 2 (Audio CD)
After being tortured with this CD for the weekend, I can safley say that this collection of live music is best left avoided. The biggest problem seems to be that most of the bands want to do the most 'outragous' cover so we get God awful versions of Shakiras' "hips dont lie" and an even worse version of Girlfriend. Its bad enough that every band that seems to come out has the prefix "The" befor their name, but the fact that they all sound the same makes finding a good band impossible. This is why I refer to this CD as a sign of the times because I cant tell who's who without reading the cover. Most importantly the songs feel lazy only bands like Coldplay really try to produce somthing good. Poor quality on some songs is also an issue backing singers sound like they're in another room sometimes (perhaps the live toilet?) Overall this is a pretty poor example of the bands that you must follow playing songs that are mostly awful to begin with, things get pretty bad when bands cant even play their own songs properly (Fratelies) Music shouldnt be about being told whats cool it should be about finding something you like for yourself and this is reflected in bands and "artists" with no talent producing anything at poor quality safe in the knowlege that people will buy whatever it is because they feel they need to buy it.
