I thought I had to read this because of all those laudatory reviews from the usual suspects.
Lawson tries too hard to be amusing by obviously exaggerating all her endless little anecdotes which shows the law of diminishing returns applies here.
The self-loathing people of her political ilk really begins to irk with her `joke' about praying that her baby will not be a `Republican' baby, yawn!
Lazy writing and just not amusing.
Avoid this book if you can. If you want a book about real self-contempt read `Seasonal Suicide Notes: My Life as it is Lived' by Roger Lewis. A far more superior book which is actually genuinely funny.
