Help removing Special offers,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Kindle Fire HD 7", Dolby Audio, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, 16 GB - Includes Special Offers [Previous Generation] (Electronics)Not really a review this but some help if you bought your Kindle HD without paying the extra to remove the Special Offers and now realise its driving you mad :-) You can have the Special Offers removed by contacting Customer Services, even after you have registered it. It states you have to pay £10 but they just did mine for free so give it a go. Now to find how to contact them is a pain in the bum, so I have done the hard work for you (I hope) First of all go to this page - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_gw_ccs?nodeId=502564
On the right side of the page select - General Support and click Contact us, sign in on the next page.
On the Contact Us page, select the middle of the three boxes (Kindle) then select your device, if you have more than one!
On the next line there is a dropdown box, select TROUBLESHOOTING MY KINDLE,
in the next dropdown select KINDLE FIRE WITH SPECIAL OFFERS,
in the next dropdown select REMOVING SPECIAL OFFERS
Next click on the middle box to 'phone', put in your phone number and they will ring you straight away. Tell them you want the Special Offers removed! thats it!
Hopefully you won't get charged but don't take it for granted. I hope this is some help as it took me ages to find the right boxes to click :-)
By the way I think the Kindle Fire HD is great, It may just need some tweaking to make it do what you want it to.

I think mostly they are doing if you are a prime member, to be honest i dont mind the big advert, the small ones (recommendations) can be removed in setting anyway

I followed your instruction exactly and they removed the special offers without charge as you said. Wanted to thank you for taking the trouble to post this. I'm not sure I would have ever found it.
