This review is from: Andrew Douglas - Searching For The Wrong Eyed Jesus [DVD] (DVD)I first saw this film late one night on BBC4 a couple of years ago. I was utterly enthralled. Watching it is like undergoing slow hypnosis and entering a strange otherworld. If you are British there are absolutely no terms of reference in this film other than speaking English. The music is extraordinary and so are the people who wander in and out of the journey. Ditto the landscape. I especially loved the old man who appeared at the side of the broken-down car and proceeded to tell how he and his family loved the Sears-Roebuck catalogue when he was a boy, and used to make up stories about the people who appeared in it. They were fascinated by all these people, because they were the only ones they'd ever seen who "had all the fingers that was comin' to em", all the locals presumably having suffered gruesome accidents!
I've been waiting for this film to come out on DVD for all this time. Buy it, it is fabulous. It deserves accolades. And if you loved Walk The Line, you'll find some connection here.
