I know what you want this review to tell you, so I will..,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Bushnell TrophyCam 2012 3/5/8MP HD Camera (Accessory)
You have read a hundred reviews, read one more.. because I have a sneaky suspicion I know what you are looking for.
It's a minefield buying a camera of any sort and these trail cams are just as bad. I mean just how much information can you take on board about trigger times, fields of view blah blah.. Life is too short to stuff an olive and its too short to fill your brain with tech spec on a very "simple" camera.
I make wildlife films and so like you I want to catch wildlife in the wild without spending a week sitting under a hedge with dirt smeared on my cheeks :)
If you are after doing the same thing you this might well be the trail camera for you. Putting all the tech spec to one side I looked for only TWO criteria:
2. reliable product.
I looked at dozens of videos and I would say the bushnell hd is pretty much as good as it gets. I have shot some footage myself and I'll be honest , it doesn't look like it was shot on a high end camera but its pretty good considering its such a small camera. Its better than any other trail cam footage I've seen. The first night I put it out, it worked a treat and filmed a close up heron ! result! It looks quite sharp too.
All the settings are fairly pointless, I mean the ones in the spec and the ones in some of the reviews. I mean it shoots 720p hd so why would you want to choose lower settings? This took about five minutes to set up ie: video mode, yes, 720p yes,
turn on, yes... You get the picture.
Talking of getting the picture thats what these are all about. Leave them on a tree , pick it up a week later and see what you caught. Works a treat. And if you want it to keep working a treat, you probably want to buy a well respected make. Bushnell fits that bill.
If you want to film wildlife with a camera trap there are a couple of other things I might reccomend:
This might stop it getting stolen. By the way , I chose the black led version to reduce the chance of getting stolen but better safe than sorry
Bushnell Security Case - HD Trail Camera Models
something like this helps too:
Stealth Camo Tape - Woodland Camo - Rifle Wrap
and when you have all this amazing footage of rare tigers and wilderbeest at the bottom of your garden you may find this useful:
Make better videos with your dslr or camcorder
