This review is from: The Omnivore's Dilemma: The Search for a Perfect Meal in a Fast-food World (Paperback)
In this extraordinary read, the author experiences first hand the horrors of industrial food and shows up the inadequacies of industrial organic. The section on true organic farming was particularly inspiring and the honesty of hunting (and killing) and gathering food perfectly illustrates the serious work of the true hunter-gatherer.
I believe anyone who wishes to eat meat should be prepared to visit an industrial farm and an abattoir and/or kill the animal and prepare the corpse - Michael Pollan grits his teeth and does all three for the sake of this fascinating study.
