Too many recipes, scant information about setting up a club.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Supper Club: Recipes and notes from the underground restaurant (Hardcover)
I was disappointed in this book as I had expected more detailed information about setting up and running a supper club and perhaps some example menus. There are only three (themed) menus in the book and 60 pages about a supper club. The remaining 200 pages are recipes. I didn't want yet another recipe book, I had expected more.

Hi L Turnbull,
I would have liked to have written more about setting up a supper club (although there is a whole chapter on it) but publishers are commercial entities and they wanted recipes! If you are interested please join my site Find a Supper Club and read some of the advice I have written there. I will, at some point, run more master classes for people hoping to set up supper clubs and write more about the subject. The thing is, a book is expensive and only a minority of people will want to set up a supper club, most will just want to found out about it generally and have some lovely recipes, all of which have been extensively tested at supper clubs. Oh and yes I'd love to do a whole book on themed menus but the publishers only chose three. However for more inspiration on themed menus, do check out my blog msmarmitelover.com.
Both legally, practically and economically I am the expert on setting up and running a supper club. There is probably a book to be written purely on that. But this book was published in 2011 and the movement was still new. It takes a while for the word to spread.
I'm currently writing a book on Secret Tea Parties, due out this August, 2014, which contains recipes and advice about running a Secret tea party as opposed to a dinner.
Next year I'm writing a book on Vegan food, a new way of looking at that and then a book on food blogging and writing. So I'm rather busy right now!
Ideally a TV production company will do a programme on me and what I do!
