This review is from: To Kill A Mockingbird [DVD] (DVD)Got this to help my daughter with her GCSE English as she was struggling to remember who was who and the complicated/strange names of the protoganists in the book (e.g. Boo, Scout etc). We watched the film together and although the film doesn't completely cover all the content in the book, I think it really helped her understand the characters and themes. My DD complained about the film being in Black and White, but it hasn't been bettered.
I was impressed by seeing this film again, it had been many, many years since I first saw it. I thought the child actors were great and Gregory Peck gives the performance of his life. The film has an atmospheric small town, claustrophobic menacing feel. It isn't a cheerful film - it is very sad and dark.
