Great for vegans,

Living anywhere other than Rome (where you can get fabulous gelato di soja) is a frustrating experience for a vegan of Italian ancestry. You can get vegan ice cream in the UK but it's not that good and nothing like Italian ice cream. I'd been thinking about getting one of these machines for ages but was put off by the price. However, in the end the craving for delicious ice cream that was vegan and slso not really high in sugar got the best of me and I took the plunge. I was not disappointed. The day the machine arrived, I wanted to try it out straight away but all I had to hand was some soya milk, a mango and some concentrated apple juice. I bunged these ingredients in and 30 minutes later I had a really delicious and satisfying ice cream. Because I had only used soya milk (no soya cream to hand) it was not very rich but it was full of the flavour of fresh fruit and was very refreshing. I also knew exactly what was in it and that they were all healthy ingredients. I've sinced tried the same recipe but with fresh strawberries and no-sugar strawberry conserve and that was even better than the mango. I'm looking forward to trying lots more fruit combinations and maybe some vegan chocolate as well. The only criticsm I have (and the reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5) is that, for such a large, heavy machine, the actual amount of ice cream you can make in one go is not very much. OK if you're just making it for 2 people, but if you are making it for a dinner party it wouldn't go very far. That's the only thing wrong with it though. If you're a vegan and love ice cream (or for anyone who wants healthy ice cream), I'd really recommend getting one of these machines.
