1.0 out of 5 stars Weak and essentially annoying., 2 May 2012
This review is from: The Soloist [DVD] (DVD)
I suffer with a mental illness myself and so feel no guilt in saying this. This is weak. Downey Jr. continues to annoy, he's changes 0% from film to film and while Jamie Foxx puts in a shift I hardly feel this is a tour de force nor the deus ex machina that some would have you believe. The Soloist comes across, to me, personally - and I am inevitably going to come under huge scrutiny criticising such a "wet" film - as a shambles. It is void of emotion, void of class, void of drive. How this film ever drew any critical acclaim defies belief. You want tenderness? A study of human nature? Watch Biutiful. Hollywood is officially dead.

Just don't see the point of the comment "...Downey Jr. continues to annoy, he's changes 0% from film to film ...". The downey jibe sounds more like subjective griping based on a personal dislike than a valid criticism of an actor's skill or repertoire.

And as for '...Hollywood is officially dead...'. Hollywood is the same as the UK film industry or any film industry, come to that - capable of producing drivel or work of staggering achievement.

Do grow up and get outside the limits of your own head.

Thank you for the enlightening comment, I dunno how I've gotten this far without you. Will be sure to do some growing up in the very near future.
