Oxford Primary Atlas,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Oxford Primary Atlas Paperback (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
I purchased this atlas for my eight year old son - and as the book is aimed at 7-11 year olds it should be ideal for the work he is doing at school. The inside cover has flags of the world and there is a lot of information at the front about how to understand the use of maps, a key for land height, the definition of a country and a capital city, etc. Although there is a traditional map of the world, this is an atlas aimed at schoolchildren and the book is laid out with that in mind. Therefore, there are several different maps of the UK, with information on tourism, pollution and other aspects that will covered in the curriculum. Of course, there are maps of the other continents and countries of the world, but the book is laid out with emphasis on questions children may face when studying geography - climates, population, rivers, etc. If you are looking for a basic atlas this may not be the one for you, but if you are looking for a book to help with homework, this should be ideal. If you are homeschooling, there is an activity book also available, Oxford Primary Atlas Activity Book (2011) and also a book pack Oxford Primary Atlas Activity Book Pack (2011) which you might find useful.
