Ideal for my father!,
This review is from: Mondaine Gents Analogue Strap Watch (Watch)
I bought my father a Mondaine Swiss Railway watch a couple of years ago, primarily because it is so easy to read - even from the other side of the room! It is a design classic, looks smart with a good quality leather strap. Perfect for anyone of any age.
It is also ideal for someone whose eyesight has deteriorated, being so legible - but stylish so it's not obvious that that is the underlying reason for its use.
There are three downsides - (1) it is not waterproof, particularly the strap (2) at the end of the month, the date has to be reset manually otherwise it will go as far as the 33rd! (3) adjusting the time and date is a bit difficult with such a small crown.

David Matthew Gray says:
Three years later, is the date adjustment still a problem? I assume that one would get used to it, but I also assume that even an extra minute of fiddling with the crown would be an inconsequential loss in the month. Of course, it could make for an annoying start to the first day of a month.
Also, it'd definitely be worth looking into a strap replacement if waterproofing's an issue. Leather's going to suffer, so a rubber or steel band could work well. Does the unit itself survive moderate amounts of water? Good observations in any case.
