BRILLIANT MUST- HAVE HOLIDAY READ,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Mini Skirts and Laughter Lines (Kindle Edition)
This is by far the best book that I've read this year. It was so funny, I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.
First of all, Amanda (whose name is eerily very similar to mine), is facing her fiftieth birthday. The book is written as a blog, and Amanda writes honest, witty accounts of her daily activities, when even routine shopping trips are amusing. Her attempts at trying to find a hobby or interest for her grumpy husband to enjoy, turn into hilarious escapades and these along with many other comical and entertaining events had me laughing out loud. At one point, my (grumpy) husband was getting more and more annoyed as I was laughing so much, whilst reading in bed, that the bed was shaking and he couldn't get to sleep!!!
I could certainly empathise as she struggles to understand her somewhat lazy son, and finds herself in a war zone, torn between him and her husband.
All this is just a backdrop to the story that develops as she makes contact with a former lover and watches as her mother starts behaving strangely and seems to be heavily influenced by a man she meets in Cyprus.
The story is delightful and is everything I could ever want in a book. The first thing I did when I'd finished reading it was to download the sequel, and then I sent a text to my friend to recommend this as a must have holiday read.
