This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship 2011- Over the Nexus (Nintendo DS) (Video Game)
This is a great game featuring a very comprehensive collection of cards from the Duel Monsters, GX, and 5D's series and other expansions in between from the OCG. You can comfortably build any deck you like (after you've put in the hours to collect the cards in-game, of course). Having to start at the bottom and unlock the cards, unlike sites like Duelling Network where all cards are reeadily available, forces you to become familiar with archetypes and dueling styles and strategies that you might not be aware of or comfortable with. This does make you a better duelist overall (even if you have to wait before you can construct your own real life deck and see how it fairs in-game).
The story is great and immerses your avatar into the 5D's world from before the first series at first (parallel to the Team Satisfaction story-arc in the show) to preparing for the WRGP (during the Earthbound Immortal story-arc) up through the WRGP story-arc itself (the Yliaster story) and so covers the breadth of the 5D's world. The one disappointing thing was the story cuts off before the Nexus story-arc itself so I am baffled as to why the game is called "Over the Nexus" when the Nexus isn't even in it. That aside (and not being able to face Zone and his super-powerful Timelord deck) I was pleased with it enough to continue playing even now.
The gameplay in itself is an evolution of previous installments with turbo duels and crash town style all thrown in with duel puzzles on the menu as well. All in all with introductions to the game and deck analysis, anyone can play this game, get into it and enjoy it.
