A highly disappointing and sorry sequel to a true classic,

This review is from: Odd Couple 2 [DVD] (DVD)I am just astonished at the rave reviews of other people for this film!! As much as I absolutely loved Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau and the classic original film, "The Odd Couple", which is one of my personal top-ten all-time favourite films, I don't like this would-be sequel. After adoring the original film for years, I rejoiced when I learned there was to be a sequel. However, they really should not have even bothered. What a shameful waste of the combined talents of Lemmon and Matthau!! This film just absolutely and completely lacks everything that made the original so wonderful. The original classic was suitable for all audiences, had no strong four-letter words or any other objectionable content. This film is peppered throughout with profanity that was unknown in the original film. It just goes to prove that you don't need it in order to make a great and truly wonderful film. Even the combined dynamic chemistry of the two great leads cannot overcome a poor script. After thirty years of waiting for a sequel, couldn't they have given us a better film?

Allan Broadfield says:
This was just awful, and from the same author and actors, too. What were they thinking, if any thought was put into this mess at all?

To each their own. I also loved Lemmon and Matthau. But this film just didn't do it for me.
