Stainless and smell free >>but did not last<<,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Kitchen Craft Stainless Steel Compost Bin (Kitchen & Home)
The lid of my pail has failed. It developed a crack roughly 6 weeks after I had bought it and over the following months the crack became a split and it also split another two times. I contacted Kitchen Craft after the first split appeared and asked what they would be willing to do and they did not reply! I know its not an expensive item but I expected more longevity from it than I have had. I'm also annoyed that I gave it a glowing review and other people will have purchased it because of this. If you are one of these people then I apologise if your bin fails. See the picture that I have attached. My recommendation is to buy the Eddingtons Compost Pail, Stainless Steel as it seems more robust.
Tough, durable compost bin for the kitchen. Whilst it does not have the looks of some other kitchen compost bins its no ugly dustbin. It does not stain and it completely holds in the smells of food waste. We are lucky enough to have the time and ability to cook every meal from scratch and as such this bin fills up at least every other day and needed to withstand frequent visits down to the bottom of the garden to visit our composter and it does. It comes complete with replacement carbon filter which just sits in the lid. I initially thought that this was a bit cheap and should have some kind of securing mechanism but its proved me wrong and way its manufactured is clever as it does not allow any grime to get trapped. The lid fits brilliantly into the pail and combined with the filter also this means that you should not suffer from fruit flies. Brilliant!
A great addition to the kitchen.

This is just what's happend to my one. It arrived 2 days ago and already the split in the lid rim is 1cm and growing, making the lid even more difficult to use - especially with one hand when you've got your scraps held in the other. I'm returning mine today, after less than 2 days sat on my kitchen work top. It was probably opened and used no more than 6 times since we received it.
