Only 3 stars, but on the rise...,
This review is from: Red-Headed Stepchild: Sabina Kane: Book 1 (Paperback)
A kickass, vampire half-breed chick with a destiny to fulfil and a chip on her shoulder leads this action packed fantasy full of assassins, demons, magic and deceit.
OK, so not the most original idea for a book but one that has shown to be successful. Yes, we do seem to have these smart mouthed, sharp teethed females coming out of our ears, but although this one doesn't offer anything new per se, it doesn't mean it's not worth reading.
Brought up by her vampire side of the family and used by them as an assassin, Sabina Kane knows next to nothing about her mage side or any powers she may have. Not fitting in anywhere, she takes what little comfort she can with her vampire family. But when a complex assignment starts causing her to doubt everything she's ever known and question who she is, where can she turn to?
If you are looking for deep, intellectual literature that makes you think then this isn't your book. If you want a quick, entertaining read that you can let your brain relax to this is it. A good start to a new series and a promising story line for book two, The Mage in Back, which I for one am looking forward to and will no doubt get more stars from me. ;)
