This review is from: Early Girls, Volume 2 (Audio CD)
Following on from the first volume Ace have now decided to add singers from the pre rnr era who charted in the 50s such as Peggy Lee,the McGuire Sisters and Dinah Washington.
For the first time chart positions are shown and we learn that Babs Tino bubbled under at No 117! Still she was luckier than her labelmate Barbara Chandler or the first girl on here Barbie Gaye who made the original version of My Boy Lollipop in 1956 for the Darl label. And also here is Rosie & the Originals first version of Lonely Blue Nights from the Highland label-later to chart on Coral.
3 other songs here never charted -including another male group fronted by a girl and known as Terri & the Tunisians but mainly its a case of hits and hit songs later for others
