An album out of place and time,
This review is from: Indiscreet (Audio CD)
When first released in 1975, Indiscreet was a major departure from the Sparks sound typified by the previous 2 albums (Kimono and Propaganda). The introduction of orchestral string sounds and layered vocals coupled with the massive diversity of song styles present on the album, was perhaps too big a step for many fans at the time and as a result the album enjoyed less commercial success than its predecesors. For many years 'Indiscreeet' sat as a bit of an enigma within the sparks back catalogue, never easily 'fitting in'.
That is until now - Listening for the first time 30 years on, you might be excused for believing that 'Indiscreet' was released around the same time as 'lil Beethoven' or 'Hello young lovers'. If you have either of these 2 albums (and you should) and are looking where to go next - Look no further and purchase this extraordinary album.
