Essential, Detailed, Vital - Superb Guide,
This review is from: Soul Calibur V: the Official Guide (collector's Edition) (Hardcover)
I like guide books but hate spoilers - so for most games I play the game first and decide on the book after and usually it is not worth it. Fighting game guide books are great because almost by definition they are spoiler free.
The book itself is split into sections, a general intro, game types, details for each fighter. All in all it comes into 480 pages and barely a word is wasted. Written by experts in the game every aspect is explored in plain english. The detail on individual fighters gives not just the moves but when to use them, what strategy to build and crucially how to defend against them. The book is littered with codes that you can scan into your smartphone that links to a bespoke video relevant to that page. Even so moves are well illustrated with key indicators that you will replicate if you pull the move off.
Future Press are building a nice library of decent guides and this one is up there with Piggyback's best imo.
Can't find a fault with this guide.
